Bryce Detwiler collected four hits in five at bats, as the Dodgers defeated Exeter 9-4 on Saturday at George Field in the first round of the Legion Playoffs. Detwiler tripled in the seventh inning, singled in the fifth inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the third inning. Shillington got on the board in the second inning after Derek Macrina singled, scoring one run. In the bottom of the second inning, Exeter went back into the lead after Youse singled, and the Dodgers committed an error, each scoring one run. Shillington took the lead in the top of the third inning after Bryce Wunderlich walked, and Matt Koehler doubled, each scoring one run. Jaxon Madara earned the win for the Dodgers. He gave up six hits and four runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out two and walking five. Blew took the loss for Exeter. He went four innings, giving up six runs on eight hits, striking out one and walking five. Cohen Eshbach tossed one inning of zero-run ball for the Dodgers in relief. He gave up zero hits, striking out one and walking one. Shillington tallied 12 hits in the game. Koehler and Eshbach each collected multiple hits for the Dodgers. Madara paced Shillington with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting six walks for the game. Detwiler stole three bases. The Dodgers ran wild on the base paths, tallying six stolen bases for the game. Giering led Exeter with two hits in three at bats. Blew provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Exeter with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-4 on the day. Heckler paced Exeter with two walks. Feathers stole two bases.
